The Piñon Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization established in 2006 by the Mitchell family to identify and support organizations and institutions that primarily focus on and promote various educational programs.  By working with various school districts, Piñon has supported both adult and student lead tutoring, attendance and scholastic incentive programs as well as summer programs that are open to all students in the districts.  Since 2010, the Piñon scholarship program has awarded over 400 scholarships to graduates of Fort Stockton and Sanderson High Schools.

The Family Place is a safe house for victims of family violence in Dallas, Texas, providing emergency refuge, crisis counseling, and transitional housing to aid families suffering from family violence.   Staff from the Mitchell Group, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, donated various household items to offer basic needs for victims of family violence.

Mitchell Group Employees donated shoes to Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls. This ministry of Buckner International provides new shoes and socks to orphans and vulnerable children in the United States and throughout the world. Since 1999, more than 2.2 million pairs of new shoes have been distributed to children in 74 countries through Buckner International. In addition, Mitchell Group Employees volunteered their time, working in the Buckner Warehouse, to process and sort shoes that have been donated.
